A Very Merry Christmas Home Tour

fHello friends!  To say I was excited to decorate for Christmas this year is an UNDERSTATEMENT.  But I was even more excited to do it after being invited to participate in a Very Merry Christmas Home Tour with 30 amazing bloggers. You can check out today’s home tours at the bottom of this post and see all 30 homes right here.

Now, let’s jump right in, shall we?

The first space I tackled was our foyer.  I kept it simple, changing out the prints in the frames to these beautiful Christmas printables {which you can download for free here}.  I added my new favorite wreath, which I found at Target.  I love how the solid red pops against the stenciled herringbone wall.  I also added a simple vase full of extra ornaments, our small faux tree from Ikea, and a Santa that my mom gave me.  Easy, simple, beautiful.

Next, let’s head into the family room, where we spend a ton of time.  We actually purchased our Christmas tree the day before Thanksgiving because Joe was on shift for Thanksgiving and then we traveled the the mountains for the weekend to spend with my family.  I could’t possibly wait until after the weekend to get our tree 🙂

My favorite touch in the family room are the lovely prints I added to the large frames.  I purchased the digital watercolor files from Etsy and had them printed at Costco.  I just love, love, love them!  And of course, I am infatuated with my DIY Christmas card holder that sits on our concrete fireplace.  You’ll see exactly how we hung our stockings with my tutorial that will be on Remodelaholic soon!

Okay, let’s head to the kitchen now.  This is the first year that I have spent a fair amount of time decorating the kitchen and I am so glad I did because we spend SO MUCH time in our kitchen.  Do you?  If so, you should really sprinkle some holiday cheer in it–you will be glad you did.  My efforts started on the chalkboard wall.  I hand drew a Christmas tree on the chalkboard wall and hung small ornaments on it using pretty Nate Berkus thumbtacks from Target.  Then I added some text, my two flanner deers {also from Target} and voila!

And I couldn’t neglect the eat-in area.  I added a red corduroy runner that I have had for years to the table and placed three faux herb plants on it.  {There was no time to iron the runner.  #BadBlogger}  Then, I hung our huge wreath that I made years ago {pre-blog} on our DIY wood plank herringbone wall.  Finally, I hung a small DIY wood slice tree {tutorial coming soon} to the small wall by the bank of windows.  I just love how that little tree turned out!

Last, but not least, I added a touch of Christmas to the chalkboard wall in our girls’ playroom.  Curious about that adorable Christmas tree?  You’ll have to check back Tuesday to learn more about it 🙂  And I wish I could take credit for the adorable Advent calendar you see hanging, but I didn’t make it.  A good friend of mine from college made it for the girls–isn’t it fabulous?!

And here’s a Pinterest friendly collage to recap 🙂

Phew!  That’s it for my tour.  Now, please be sure to check out the other AMAZING blogger home tours that are going on right now.
